Passage Jouffroy

About 15 minutes walk from the Hotel Paris La Fayette is the famous Musée Grévin, whose exit leads onto the Passage Jouffroy. Opened in 1845 in the 9th arrondissement, between Boulevard Montmartre and Rue de la Grange-Batelière, this shopping arcade reflects the technical progress of the 19th century. In fact, it is entirely built in metal and glass, a first for its time. From the marble walkway to the stucco of the clock, you walk through a true architectural treasure, where the daylight comes flooding through the remarkable ogive glass roof. It is good to stroll between the magnificent woodwork of the shop windows before taking a break at Valentin’s for a cup of tea and a pastry. Shops specialising in antique toys, canes or rare books are inexhaustible mines of gifts and original souvenirs, somewhere to go to make unique finds.
